Woodburn has been growing and shipping “Dormant” and “Ready to Force” azaleas since 1972 and continues to be the largest grower of florist quality azaleas in the United States. For those customers that are new to our program, there are some differences from our program and those of our competitors. Rather than grow crops of the same size throughout the year, Woodburn targets their crop volume to the demand of the plants. The crops servicing the demand from June through November are much smaller in number than the crops targeted for shipping December through May. The early crops take 4 to 5 weeks to bring into color but the January through May crops, when demand for all floral is high, only take 3 to 4 weeks or less to force allowing our customer a faster turn on their bench space.
